Use colours and light to guide your design lines and add accents like plants and flowers, personal items and art. Do not hesitate when combining different materials; just make sure the combination will be both visually pleasant and useful. Once you decide on the furniture you want to display, choose the correct colour combination and fixtures. Light should be an element that will help you relax in the bathroom while taking a shower or a well-deserved bubble bath. For a bathroom with modern furniture, you need to keep the same design lines as you see in the pictures that inspire you. Use bathroom tiles according to the plan, but don't forget to get creative. You should take the advice of an interior designer when remodelling, but if you want to renovate on your own, make sure you have all the information necessary before you start working on the bathroom renovation project. This way you will make sure that everything is carefully planned and it will all go smoothly.
Planning your bathroom's layout Your bathroom's layout will in part be determined by what storage and bathroom furniture you need. Start by thinking about how you use your bathroom. What do you need space for and how much will you require? How regularly will you use different things and how easily will you need to access them? How much do you want to hide away or have out on display? Answering these questions will give you a good idea of how much storage you'll need so you can better plan what bathroom furniture you should get. Now you can think about the different types of furniture and storage options available to you. You can get built-in cabinets – for example, bathroom vanities that sit around the basin, which will make use of wasted space – or freestanding ones that give you flexibility to move it around.
Typically when we start a bathroom renovation we have one tile that we dream of including in our design. Sometimes it is a really special or unique accent tile and sometimes it is as simple as knowing that you want white subway tile. Either way, take that dream tile and use it as the starting point for the other tile you will choose for your bathroom design. Taking your first (must have) choice as a starting point, use it to make the decisions for the other tiles you will include in your design. If your must have is a really unique color or pattern and is going to be the focal point of your design, pull more subtle colors from it to use in your accent tiles. If however your first choice is really plain (like a white subway tile) you may want to add an element of interest with a colorful accent tile or even a smaller scale white penny tile to change it up and add interest.
