Bathroom furniture is an integral part of any bathroom, and has to stand an incredible amount of wear and tear, water splashes and clouds of steam. So, whether you're totally renovating your bathroom or sprucing it up with new furniture, it's important to ensure that the bathroom furniture you get will both suit your needs and stand the test of time. That's why we've asked bathroom owners to rate not only the bathroom brand they bought their suite from (toilet, sink and bath) but their bathroom furniture too. Below, you can find out what customers though of B&Q, Bathstore and Homebase bathroom furniture when pitched against online bathroom suppliers and independents. he majority of people we surveyed (55%) bought their bathroom furniture from or through an independent company/DIY store or tradesman (ie a plumber or builder). Although many designers like to test paint right on the walls, color consultant Paulette Diamond, ASID, vice president of the International Association of Color Consultants - North America, suggests buying 8" x 10" flat canvas boards from an art supply store and painting one in each of the colors you are considering. "This system allows you to move the paint color samples around the room easily," she says, "while eliminating the mess and confusion of having several different colors painted on the wall." Finally, once you are pretty certain you have found the best color for your bathroom, "Just go for it," Joan says. "Remember, it's only paint. If you aren't happy with it you can change it very easily.
Typically you will choose a floor tile, a wall tile for the shower/ tub surround or even all of the walls in your bathroom, and an accent tile that will be used as a focal point. This is just a guideline. Don't be afraid to break the rules a little bit. There are so many beautiful tiles out there and a bathroom is a perfect place to show off some of your personality and take a risk with a fun color or pattern on your tiles. However, if you are going to go for it, keep it to one show stopper. This will make your look timeless and really create the wow factor that you are going for since it won't be competing with the other elements in the room. (Many of these super special tiles can be pricey, but if you are working in a small area like a bathroom, they might just be the splurge you need since you won't need very many square feet.
