Where to Install, to install a wall mounted toilet paper holder, the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) advises installing 26" from the floor along a wall beside the toilet. Make sure the hardware you choose will fit in that space. Grab Bars for Toilets, Showers, and Bathtubs. The best grab bar is metal, although many substantial bars are made of plastic. Choose options that color-coordinate with your toilet and shower space if you are going with a plastic option. You can use the ADA (American Disabilities Act) guidelines for disabled individuals as a guide for your home bathroom to help determine where and how to install these aids. The size(s) you choose will depend on the measurements for installation in your home.
Large scale tiles are definitely on trend when it comes to bathroom floors right now. If you choose to go that direction, you can use the same tile cut in smaller sizes in a different area of the bathroom. For example if you use 12 x 24 tiles on the floor, you can use the same tile on the bathroom floor in 2 x 2s to continue the color across the entire floor, but creating a more slip free shower floor. For the kid's bathroom I wanted to go with something classic and something very light and airy. There are no windows in this bathroom so I wanted something that would bounce around as much light as possible. As soon as I saw this tumbled hexagon tile at The Tile Shop I knew we had to use it on the floor. This was my must have tile and would also act as the show stopper since it is a little bit unexpected and has a lot of pattern. I also knew that I wanted to do grey cabinets to keep with the color scheme of my home, so we ended up choosing a larger than normal scale (4 x 8) matte white subway tile for the shower surround. It comes in both a glossy and matte finish and after getting both samples we are going to go with the matte.
Vanity units also allow you to play around with materials and colours. There are a lot of different worktop options, from marble effect to stone, that can bring another layer of design and a different feeling to your bathroom. If you have quite a lot of space, you could have a much more expansive vanity unit that spans the width of a wall (like in the picture at the top of this page). Most of the big-name brands sell a range of vanity units, but if you have the budget and want something very specific, you could also consider asking a builder to make bespoke bathroom storage for you. Bathroom cabinets and freestanding bathroom furniture Freestanding bathroom furniture and cabinets are usually cheaper than built-in, and often offer more flexibility. From full-length shelving units to mirrored wall units, the options are seemingly endless. They also mean you can make use of your walls and the height of your room. Consider these different options.
